The University of the Third Age of Zawiercie was registered in the National Court Register

April 4, 2007. It was created on the initiative of the 22-person founding committee with the first president - Jadwiga Pluta.

At present, it has 580 members - pensioners from Zawiercie and poviat.

We are a member of the National Federation of UTW in Nowy Sącz. Every year we take part in the UTW Forum in Nowy Sącz and the International Economic Forum in Krynica. We have a bronze certificate of the "Professional University of the Third Age".

The organization of classes and administrative matters is carried out by a 7-person, socially responsible board.

We already have over 20 thematic sections.

We mainly deal with education: lectures, seminars, language groups, computer science. We have a choir and a theater group, which each year receive prizes at the National School of Education in Warsaw and in 2013, we promoted our country in Panevėžys in Lithuania.

We pay a lot of attention to physical fitness: our members can participate in classical gymnastics, rehabilitation, aerobics, yoga, Tai Chi, cycling section, table tennis, gym, swimming pool. For 6 years in May, we participate in the National Olympiad of Universities of the Third Age in Łazy, taking places on the podium. For 3 years we have been organizing Intergenerational Sports Competition together with junior high school students of Zawiercie,

In 2010 - 2013, every year we are nominated in the Gala on the occasion of Zawiercia Days for their activities in various areas (details on our website).

In addition, our members can take part in art classes;

in the drawing and painting section and work in glass, Kawiant Literature, the Young Writers' Club and in domestic and foreign tourism.

We are a non-profit organization. We are mainly responsible for the contributions of our members (PLN 50 per year). Sometimes we can get some small funds as part of competitions organized by the Commune Office or Poviat Starosty.
