The history of the building, which currently houses the European Otwock Health Center (ECZ Otwock), Szpital im. Fryderyk Chopin dates back to 1935, when one of the most modern sanatoriums in Poland was opened. The then hospital located in the woods was reminiscent of a luxury guesthouse. Designed by renowned architect Edgar Norwerth, he was able to take 120 patients at the same time. Construction began in October 1933, and on May 2, 1935, the first patients were admitted. The design of the hospital in Otwock is modeled on the sanatorium in Paimio, which still awakens the admiration of Europe, and was designed by Alvar Aalto, an outstanding Finnish modernist. Some even think that the hospital in Otwock is a copy of the work from Paimio. ECZ Otwock is a combination of tradition and ultra-modernity. Otwock, located 25 km from the center of Warsaw, is known primarily as a sanatorium and spa resort. Tourist attractions of the city of Otwock and the poviat include the picturesque Świder river, pine forests included in the Mazowiecki Landscape Park and unusual landscapes. Near the hospital there is a nature reserve "Na Torfach". Europejskie Centrum Zdrowia Otwock Sp. z o. o. was founded in 2004. On the basis of the historic building remembering the times of Marshal Piłsudski, we create a facility oriented to the needs of the patient, both from Poland and abroad. ECZ Otwock is one of three in the world (Vanderbilt University in Nashville - USA, European Institute of Oncology in Milan-Italy), cardiooncological treatment centers. It is a new branch of medicine that brings rescue to those patients who, because of heart failure, pulmonary embolism or cardiac complications, can not undergo traditional oncological therapy. Cardiooncology is a discipline that allows treatment of patients who have had cardiac complications as a result of oncological therapy. Those, very often, if they do not go to such a facility as the European Otwock Health Center, can not be subjected to further treatment in Poland.

The main activity of the Oncology Clinic and the Department of Oncological Surgery is the treatment of patients with breast cancer (breast-conserving treatment, classic modified mastectomy, mastectomy with skin saving, biopsy of the sentinel node), thyroid gland and gastrointestinal tract - including mainly, stomach, large intestine and rectum. In the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, we use the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery - laparoscopic and stapler - mechanical sutures. Surgical treatment at the Clinic covers a wide spectrum of treatments.

The main area of ​​activity of the CMKP Urology Clinic is oncology urology, which includes the diagnosis and treatment of tumors of the urinary organs and cancers of the male genital organs, mainly the prostate gland, but also the observation of patients after treatment. The treatment is based mainly on surgical procedures: classical surgery, laparoscopic surgery and on endo-urological procedures performed within the urinary system under endoscopic control. Urological laparoscopy is a leading technique.

The CMKP pulmonary and thromboembolic clinic is a full cardiology department specializing mainly in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary embolism, venous thrombosis and various forms of pulmonary hypertension. The Department of Cardioangiology operates the following Laboratory of Cardiological Non-invasive Diagnostics, Spiroergometry, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Cardiology and Radiology.

At ECZ Otwock, Szpital im. F. Chopin also conducts treatments in the field of gynecology (including oncology), orthopedics, neuroortopedics, ENT, etc.

Establishment of CMKP clinics on the basis of ECZ Otwock was possible thanks to excellent staff resources and excellent hospital equipment in the highest quality equipment in the field of imaging diagnostics, including 3Translated magnetic resonance, the first in Poland two-camera camera equipped with a 32-channel receiver coil, 128-line computer tomograph, modern digital ultrasound machines, X-ray camera with image combining function and the only digital 3D mammogram in Poland with a unique tomosynthesis option. The hospital has a modern Operating Block, meeting international standards, as well as ICU and OINK.

At the European Otwock Health Center, patients from Poland and abroad receive not only standard therapy based on medical treatment.
