The company was named SzalSky to honor the kite achievements of two generations of our family.
In 1990, the first kite workshop in Poland was opened by Alicja's father, Wenancjusz Szalski.
We design and manufacture artistic kites and improve the techniques of flying all types of kites. We participate in international kite festivals around the world, we also organize workshops and lectures.
In the summer of 2017, Alicja took her apprenticeship in her father's old studio and since then she has been constantly creating.
The need for design results mainly from the desire to keep the elegance of the flight and the aesthetics and precision of manual execution at the same time.
In the online store, we offer designs of artistic kites, which in our opinion implement this desire.
We travel the world and visit kite festivals with several decades of tradition. Thanks to this, we deepen our knowledge about kites, and also expand the circle of kite friends artists and enthusiasts.
Our current goal is to popularize kites in Poland in a new version. We are resenting the stereotype that kites are just slats and paper, which in the form of the simplest constructions we met as children. We show that both in Europe and Asia is a form of spending time for everyone, regardless of age. We combine history, tradition and modernity. We draw inspiration from our travels, and the latest kite materials and techniques are not alien to us. We manufacture our own constructions ourselves, which are popular in Western Europe. Our most recognizable kite is UFO and the most known commercial product is the one-year-old kite Ciquare. The author of the project is Alicja Szalska.
We have created a multi-module educational program about kites, dedicated to people who want to learn how to sew kites, pilot them, want to learn more about this rich world. To expand the circle of interested parties, we organize lectures from our trips with kites in the background, as well as kite workshops for children and youth.
