Orthodoxy appeared in Płock in the 1930s. This event was closely related to changes in the social and political functioning of the Kingdom of Poland. After the fall of the November Uprising, the position of lieutenant was taken over by Field Marshal Iwan Paskiewicz who, as a reward for suppressing Polish national liberation fights, was awarded the title of the Warsaw prince. Czar Nicholas I annulled the already unheard-of constitution of 1815, abolished the Sejm, the Polish army and a separate coronation in Warsaw. In 1833, he introduced martial law for 25 years. Offices began to be occupied by Russians coming from the Empire, who mainly adhered to Orthodoxy.
The changes also included Płock. In 1834, Aleksy Bołgowski became the president of the Provincial Commission. In place of the liquidated Polish army, the Russian army was introduced to the barracks located in the former Norbertine monastery at Warszawska street.
